Recently firearms industry writer Gordon Meehl contacted APO about field testing and writing about our SABER® M700™ 6.5 Creedmoor Precision Rifle. Gordon is entering the grueling 4-day Mammoth Sniper Challenge and wanted to take our SABER M700 6.5CM along for the challenge. His article and posts will be from a "first timer's" perspective with him being new to the practical-tactical rifle sports.
Big game hunting season is in full swing out in Montana and we have our first Field Test Report in from Britton C. who’s putting the SABER® M700™ .30-06 Sport-TAC to the test with great success. Britton harvested a nice Big Horn Sheep Ewe on his first trip afield with this APO rifle.
Dubbed the “Working Man’s Sport Utility Rifle” by my editor, I set out to prove the worthiness of Ashbury Precision Ordnance’s SABER M700 chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor “against predators of the four- and two-legged variety.” The likelihood of the zombie apocalypse kicking off this week is rather low, so I’ll primarily stick with the much more likely scenario of giving a coyote a dirt nap.
Recently the Ashbury Precision Ordnance Custom Shop was commissioned by a client and former APO Riflecraft student to build a matched set of lightweight short barreled .308Win tactical hunting rifles using the new Ashbury SABER® M700™ sport utility rifle as the baseline. The rifles would be a gift for the client’s oldest son and used on father/son spot and stalk hunts for big game out to several hundred yards.
